Taking Care Of Conference Food & Beverages
Well fed delegates are happy delegates.
Most venues and hotels will offer food and beverage packages within their delegate proposal to you, especially for Day Delegate Rates and 24 Hour Delegates Rates.
Hotels have years of experience hosting delegates not just from the UK in the UK but also from anywhere worldwide around the world. This means your venue can offer food and beverage to meet all tastes, cultural variances, dietary preferences and of course budgets.
Menu choices need not be repetitive or boring, especially when you have a residential conference extending beyond a few days. Normally your dedicated Conference Manager, Banqueting Manager and Chef will work together on your behalf and are more than willing to show off their skills and culinary repertoires.
Many venues and hotels in the UK offer limitless soft drinks, tea and coffee through the day, within their conference delegate packages, whilst others on the continent might in addition offer wine and or lager/beer. It is up to you to decide what would be appropriate for your corporate conference group and issue clear instructions to your venue for them to follow.
When it comes to evening meals, Awards Dinners, Gala Dinners and End of Conference Celebrations it is important to instruct your venue on two things:
- What to serve and what not to serve - often soft drinks, wine and beer are preferable to a 'free bar'
- What is covered by the Host and what is not. This way the bar staff have clear instructions and there is no misunderstanding or embarrassment between them and guests.
All of the above should be covered in fine detail in any Venue/Hotel Contract so there are no last minute unpleasant surprises.
